Ethical Counseling with LGBTGEQ+ Individuals will assist counselors to develop a working knowledge of the Standards of Care in Assessment issued by the American Counseling Association and the Competencies for Counseling LGBTGEQ+ Individuals issued by the American Counseling Association. Counselors will be able to: define sex, gender and sexuality, develop a basic understanding of intersectionality within the LGBTGEQ+ community, identify prejudices, both interpersonal and environmental, that create barriers to access and pose risk for harm, explore these limitations through group discussion, role play and strategy, explore methods for ethical decision-making via consultation, academic and community resources.
This course is approved by the LPCA for 5 Ethics and 1 Core hour, 7354-17M
Registration begins at 8:30am, class begins at 9am and ends at 4:45pm. There will be a 75 minute lunch break. Lunch will be offsite.
